Cathedral Grove 3, acrylic on canvas, 40 ”x28”

This was my third painting of a photo shoot recently done of the tree park on Vancouver Island known as Cathedral Grove. The trees there are very tall, thick and old. The sun was setting, which gave a particular kind of light which illuminated the tops of the tree canopies. I focused on the placement and spatial orientation of tree trucks here. Broken light hits different spots of trucks and bristles. The park features a combination of Red Ciders and Douglas Fir, natural to West Coast BC.
