Van Dusen Garden Douglas Fir, acrylic on canvas, 50 ”x36”

This was the first tree painting, done last fall from a photography study of the Van Dusen Gardens in Vancouver. The assignment was to painting something, anything there and the only thing I responded to were the trees. These particular Douglas Firs, which were 25 years old as specified by nearby signage, began this whole series. That makes them particularly special.
